Could LinkedIn’s New UI Improve User Experience?
App researcher Radu Oncescu recently shared a LinkedIn UI test introducing a fresh design. In this design, all in-app navigation options are moved to the top of the screen instead of splitting them between the top and bottom bars. This shift would consolidate notifications, inbox alerts, and other navigation shortcuts at the top, which could simplify access to each section. However, the exact location of the post composer isn’t entirely precise in this setup.
Currently, LinkedIn’s layout places profile, search, post composer, and inbox shortcuts along the top bar, while the home feed, "My Network," notifications, and job tabs are located along the bottom. This potential new design would bring all of these together into a single top row, allowing users to scroll through the feed without the bottom navigation bar interrupting the view. While this may offer a cleaner look, the smaller icons and missing post composer could impact ease of use and reduce original content posting.
If LinkedIn moves forward with this layout, it could streamline the notifications experience. However, users would also need to adjust to the new navigation style. Whether this experiment will eventually roll out remains uncertain, but it offers a glimpse into possible changes to LinkedIn’s interface to simplify the user experience.
